Meet Dr. Douglas Robertson

Dr. Douglas Robertson grew up in the Ohio Valley and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in zoology, with a minor in Italian, from The Ohio State University in 1999.  Four years later, he completed the DDS program at the OSU College of Dentistry.  Dr. Robertson remained at OSU for a one-year general dentistry residency before continuing his training in the 27-month graduate endodontics program at the OSU College of Dentistry.  To earn his master’s degree, Dr. Robertson completed a clinical study comparing two dental anesthetics, which was published in the Journal of the American Dental Association.

In 2006, Dr. Robertson returned to the Ohio Valley to practice endodontics (specialty of root canal treatment) in Wheeling, WV.  He maintains membership in the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, West Virginia Dental Association, and Wheeling District Dental Society.  Dr. Robertson remains active in organized dentistry and is a past president of both the Wheeling District Dental Society and the West Virginia Dental Association.

We are committed to providing the highest quality endodontic care.  To that end, the Zeiss dental microscope has been used in every treatment since entering the specialty with the endodontics program; Carestream CBCT (3D x-ray) was acquired in 2012 (CBCT has since become mainstream in endodontic practice); and the GentleWave system in 2017 (not yet mainstream, with overhead cost often cited as a hindrance to adoption.)  In 2022 we embraced vital pulp therapy as a viable option for select cases where more conservative treatment may be appropriate, in accordance with the scientific evidence and recently published AAE recommendations.  We are committed to remaining a leader in the latest technology and techniques that offer a tangible benefit in patient experience and treatment outcome.
